Mystery Science Theater 3000, Season 5

episode 0509

Hey, thanks for hosting these. I wanted to mention that The Girl in Lover's Lane has sound but no video. It's the only one I've had problems with.

Girl in Lover's Lane

Try downloading again, I think it's been fixed as mine works fine.

Downloaded it again. Still

Downloaded it again. Still doesn't work for me.

Girl...

When I tried to play it on Windows Media Player a pop-up told me it needed a 'Codec' (whatever that is) bit it played it fine anyway.
Is that any help ?

Yes, I tried both RealPlayer

Yes, I tried both RealPlayer and Media Player...they both give me the same problem -- sound is fine, but blank video. Not sure what causes it, as most of these episodes work fine. I did get that codec acquired message from Media Player that you mention.

Girl...

I think these are 'Div X files'.
They play fine on my 'Windows Media Player' (my 'Power DVD' gives me just sound), or when burnt to a disc using 'Nero Create A DVD' then played on a suitable DVD Player (one capable of playing DVD +/-).
I think there are only about four files like this- 'Girl...', 'Codename Diamond Head', 'Zombie Nightmare' and 'Being from Another Planet'.
I'm not technically minded, I just messed about 'til they worked. Try following the instruction to install the Codec (although my WMP seemed to do it automatically).

Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for your suggestions. I downloaded and installed something called X-vid 1.1.3 and that allowed me to view the program with Media Player.

Codecs for video playback

If you want to make sure you've always got the latest codecs for playback necessary to play pretty much anything you download, do a google search for the "Combined Community Codec Pack" or "CCCP". It comes with a very nice, lightweight media player (Media Player Classic), and all the codecs you cuold ever need (which work fine with all the other media players on your computer :)
